Architeture and Urbanism (MSc)

Overview

The Professional Master's in Architecture and Urbanism focuses on the development of cities and their buildings. In order to keep up to date with the needs and requirements of the market and society, this master’s program views cities as organisms, seeking opportunities to contribute to quality of life at the urban and building scale. Topics related to innovation, sustainability and technology are, therefore, key.

Cities: Urban management and new technology processes for sustainable environment management are addressed. Focusing on the relationships between architectural design and the sociospacial impacts on the city, this line of work covers the planning and management of sustainable cities from a comprehensive perspective, involving economic, social, cultural and environmental sustainability.

Buildings: This line of work explores sustainable architectural design. It focuses on the relationships between new technologies and design processes and construction as well as on issues such as design rationalization, materials technology, energy efficiency and comfort in buildings, including ventilation, natural lighting and facade protection systems.

Registration: Registration can be done online, by mail, or in person.

Selection: Classification will be based on:
a) Analysis and evaluation of documentation;
b) Interview.

Enrollment: The Graduate Program office will contact selected students to inform on enrollment.

Special Students (non-degree study)

Unisinos Graduate Programs admit non-regular students in some courses of the professional master’s degree. Non-regular students are students from other Unisinos Graduate Programs, other higher education institutions, and undergraduate or graduate students not affiliated with any Graduate Program. This opportunity allows non-regular students to know some of the courses offered by Unisinos.

Each semester the number of available places for these courses is announced and the programs offer enrollment for students who show evidence of ability to pursue them. Therefore, they need to be approved by the Coordination Committee and register as provided in the program regulations.
