Nursing (MSc)
Overview
The Professional Master's in Nursing aims to contribute to the development and qualification of the health care network, at the local and regional level, preparing nurses and other professionals to work in different points of care, based on scientific evidence and critical reflection of the processes of work. Its purpose is to collaborate in the construction and consolidation of public policies and the effective implementation of SUS.
From an interprofessional perspective, it trains professionals to respond to the demands and needs of services and communities, providing tools for the care, management, research and continuing education processes. Prepares the master's student for creative actions, through the production of innovative technologies and solutions that meet the desires of contemporary society.

Emphasis: Nursing Care Practices
The area of concentration comprises the re-reading of nursing care practices, both in the health care and nursing process and in health education. Emphasis is placed on training aimed at professional practice, in which the work process is valued as a privileged center of learning in the development of the ability to intervene, transform and critically think about practice, in order to generate new knowledge and attitudes in their daily life. work. This implies a contextualized saber, combining the tripod with problems identified in the daily life of knowledge, scientific services and the proposal to transform this reality. The course encourages the development of studies or proposals related to the practice, in the perspective that the master's student carries out concurrent professional activity. Addressing the determinants of nursing practice problems means addressing multiple dimensions that the work process involves, issues from the organizational, educational, technical and human spheres .
Lines of action
This line of research covers studies concerning the training of health professionals and educational activities on health. It promotes health education, including professional training and knowledge production as a key strategy to transforming health care practices.

Currently Full Professor at the University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos working in the Graduate Programs of Public Health and of Nursing. The main research areas include epidemiology and public health.

Rafaela Schaefer
Doutora em Enfermagem rafaschaefer@unisinos.brGraduated in Nursing and Master in Public Health by University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos, PhD in Nursing by Portuguese Catholic University with a Double Degree from the University of São Paulo. She conducts research in the field of nursing and public health, mainly on topics related to ethical issues in work processes, such as organizational ethical climate and moral distress, with expertise in qualitative research and construction, validation and application of scales.
