Unisinos International Session
OVERVIEW
Unisinos International Session is an academic experience that not only build interdisciplinary connections but helps students take a journey of personal and collaborative intercultural discovery in Latin America, at Unisinos University, located in south Brazil region. The event aims to develop students' global engagement by providing opportunities to share different perspectives on global issues, make friends with various cultural backgrounds, and explore Brazil’s history, culture, and society.

About Unisinos
UNISINOS is a private Jesuit University founded in 1969. The main campus of UNISINOS University is located in São Leopoldo, which is about 18 miles distance from the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre. On its campuses, UNISINOS welcomes approximately 18,000 students in six Schools - Polytechnic, Business, Law, Health, Creative Industries, and Humanities. UNISINOS has been developing strategic partnerships with companies and universities in Brazil and in the worldwide landscape.

São Leopoldo

São Leopoldo is known for its German immigration. A nice program to enjoy São Leopoldo during the day is visiting the Parque Natural Imperatriz Leopoldina. There you will find ecological trails, as well as a leisure area where there are spaces to play volleyball, football, and to grill a churrasco.
The nightlife in the city is somewhat exciting. In Independência, the most popular street of the city, there are several bars and restaurants. You can enjoy live music or even play snooker with friends.
Campus SL
Besides classrooms infrastructures and laboratories for research and experimentation, the campus has lakes, gardens, ecological preservation areas and some animal species that express the socio-environmental commitment of the university.
On campus, the student will find all the comfort needed to spend the day. Unisinos has a university restaurant, cafeterias, and banks. It also has a Sports and Leisure Center with gym, sand court, and athletic track.
Porto Alegre

Porto Alegre, the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, is known for its cultural diversity. The city offers a variety of attractions, from cultural centers, museums, theaters and, cinemas, to handcraft fairs. If you enjoy art and culture, you should go for a walk through Praça da Alfândega and its surroundings.
There you will find the Art Museum of Rio Grande do Sul (MARGS), Casa de Cultura Mario Quintana and Santander Cultural. Besides that, you can’t go to Porto Alegre and not visit its Public Market. With a centennial structure, it has two floors filled with shops that sell vegetables, fruits, fish, yerba-mate, teas, coffees, and other natural products.
Campus POA
Unisinos has remarkably developed itself. In 2016, it launched a new campus in Porto Alegre, which has an educational environment with more creativity, sustainability, and culture. This campus has an Educational Tower with eight floors and a capacity for up to 8,000 students.
Another popular place used by the students is the Labs Building. There you will find the FabLab, a laboratory made for you to create and take your ideas off the paper. FabLab offers manual machines for prototyping (FDM and 3DP printing), laser cutting and engraving, 3D scanner and electronic components, as well as hand tools such as saws, sanders, drills and painting tools
The Charms of the Serra Gaúcha
The Serra Gaúcha is known for its natural landscapes. There are hills, valleys, and rivers that form beautiful scenarios. Numerous activities and possibilities are available for visitation, vine cultivation is present in most municipalities, and one of the experiences offered is to accompany wine making and taste the result of this elaboration in canteens, from small family wineries to traditional companies in the Region.
Also called Destino Uva e Vinho, the region works on the integrated development of tourism. Are under the umbrella of larger itineraries: 1st Italian Immigration Colony, Shopping and culture, Wheat Route, Spa and Longevity, and Serra Valleys.
Useful information about Brazil
The official currency of Brazil is the Real (R$). The currency can be done in hotel lobbies, banks, and travel agencies.

The standard voltage in Porto Alegre is 110V; however, there are some 220V available. In other cities, the standard voltage is usually 220V. Plugs found at the region:
Like any place in the world, foreigners should always keep an eye on their baggage and look after their belongings. Don’t leave electronic equipment or other items unattended and avoid handling money in public. Also, it is important to leave your passport in a safe place, but always carry a document with a picture with you.
