The Constructal Law governs the phenomena of design and evolution in nature.

The conference explores the unifying power of the Constructal Law and its applications in all the domains of design generation and evolution, from biology and geophysics to social organization, energy sustainability and security.

The conference also covers the Second Law, and how the Constructal fits in Thermodynamics. The Constructal Law and Second Law are self-standing as first principles. Together, they empower Science much more than the Second Law alone.

What are the objectives?

The general objectives of the event are to promote the exchange of ideas among researchers in the area, to enhance the international collaboration of the Brazilian scientific community, as well as to promote free discussions, stimulate diffusion and explore new applications of Constructal Law and Second Law.

Target Audience

The event is open to researchers and writers interested in understanding and applying the Constructal Law and Second Law of Thermodynamics. The expected audience will consist of professors, researchers, undergraduate and graduate students, as well as employees of companies engaged in research and development. It will attract researchers from international institutions.

Submit your abstract via email to:
All submitted extended abstracts, 4 pages max including figures and references, will be peer-reviewed. Once accepted, they will be inserted in the conference proceedings. A full length paper of selected extended abstracts from the conference will be asked to the authors to submit for possible publication in a peer-reviewed special issue of the Elsevier international journal APPLIED THERMAL ENGINEERING.

Notification of acceptance: 16 - 30 September 2018
Submission of full papers: from 1 September to 31 December 2018.

Author's Instructions:
Extended Abstracts are invited on Constructal Law and the Second Law (irreversibility, entropy generation, exergy destruction). Abstracts of no more than 300 words should be submitted. Abstracts should clearly state the purpose, results and conclusions of the work to be described in the final paper. Final acceptance will be based on the extended abstract (4 pages max including figures and references).
The language of the conference is English.
